CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Dancing on the Moon & Floating Among the Stars
with Miranda Janeschild
In this class, we will explore fractal-like movement as an entry point for effortless dancing. Self-repeating movement patterns found in the natural world, such as an unfurling fern, curling octopus arm, ocean waves, or galaxy formations, can also be harnessed in the human body. We will examine details of the neuro-muscular and skeletal systems that support spiraling, billowing, and wave-like movement for smooth landing, launching, and dancing.
In this workshop, we will:
· Engage in Somatic explorations
· Improvise with movement flow through curling, arching, and waving motifs.
· Use the limbs as fern or octopus-like tendrils to enable easy entering and exiting the floor.
· Harness and control momentum while dancing

Build Ramps Not Walls
with Sebastian Grubb
Ramping is the technique of creating smooth pathways for your body down to the floor and back up again. This seemingly basic ability is perhaps the single-most important function to preserve in our lives. And it provides the foundation for endless movement exploration, integrated strength, and dances. In this class we'll detail the anatomical framework that supports this ability and pathways, including the hip joints, shoulder girdle, feet and hands. This class includes: ground navigation, quadrupedal tech, the serpentine spine, dynamic elevation.

Contact Improvisation & Movement Puzzles
with Marcus Van Duren
In this class we’ll enter the field of Contact Improvisation to further our research into three-dimensional, poly-axial movement that respects the body and builds connection with others. We’ll explore how biomechanics perspectives and techniques can support freedom and grace in partner dancing.

SEBASTIAN GRUBB
Sebastian is an award-winning dance artist and movement coach based in Northern Europe and California. He choreographed, performed and toured contemporary dance works throughout the U.S. and overseas from 2007-2019.
