Kindness on the Go: Soup Patrol

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Kid + Family Volunteers will work together to hand out soup, hot chocolate, blankets, gloves, hats + hygiene supplies to individuals in need, spreading warmth + kindness during the colder months.

WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT:

This hands-on volunteer work will benefit St. Francis Shelter Community and individuals in need across Tucson.

St. Francis Shelter Community fosters a supportive environment for unhoused members, providing essential services such as food, temporary shelter + cooling centers. Their efforts not only offer immediate relief but also cultivate hope for a brighter future for those in need.

Soup Patrol is a program within St. Francis and it provides warm, nutritious soups from Caridad Kitchens along with blankets, hats, gloves, hand warmers + hygiene supplies to individuals in need.

KIND NOTES:

This volunteer project is for Kids aged 9 and up.

• This is an outdoor event, so please dress warmly—it will be cold! Volunteers will be pouring hot chocolate, soup + handing out items for individuals in need.

• We want you to feel prepared for this experience. The project will be held outside the Salvation Army. You'll have the opportunity to serve people who may look or act differently or have unique needs. Volunteers may also be exposed to language or behaviors that could be surprising or off-putting, such as hearing strong language or interacting with individuals who may be under the influence, experiencing mental health challenges, or dealing with other hardships.

• All supplies will be provided.

WHY YOU'LL BE ASKED TO PAY A FAMILY REGISTRATION FEE:

With Tucson Family Volunteers (a 501(c)(3) organization), all you have to do is register for a project, show up on the day of the project + volunteer. The Family Registration Fee goes towards the purchase of every single item needed for Family Volunteers to successfully complete a particular give-back project. Including takeaway snacks for the Kid Volunteers!
