About this Event
A Conversation for Young Professionals
Kindling Hope: Reimagining Community Amidst Crisis and Conflict
Crisis and conflict feel inescapable in the world today. Our news cycle is dominated by stories of economic and public health crises, along with conflicts across national, ethnic, and class divides; this reality has left many feeling demoralized and desperate for a glimmer of hope. This year’s At the Table event aims to foster discussion around our enduring source of hope in the face of chaos: community.
At Kindling Hope: Reimagining Community Amidst Crisis and Conflict, we will aim to radically redefine the purpose and possibility of community. You will connect with young professionals from across the Greater Washington area, putting the themes of the event into practice as we collectively think through questions concerning community-building, mutual responsibility, and hope.
Additionally, you will hear from three dynamic speakers as they leverage their expertise to help us reimagine community and unlock our collective power:
- Joanna Kretzer Chun, an international development practitioner who currently works as the Director of Program Quality at World Relief
- Dr. Marisa G. Franco, psychologist and NYT bestselling author of
- Ben Klutsey, pluralism and civil exchange expert who currently serves as the Executive Director of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University
At Kindling Hope, you will not only form new connections through thoughtful conversation but also gain practical tools to reinvigorate your own communities and cultivate hope at a time when it is most needed.
