KIMCHI MAKING WORKSHOP

Join me at Puzzle Bored Cafe in Brighton for a hands-on journey into the ancient art of fermentation. Together, we’ll explore how humble vegetables, salt, time and the invisible work of living microorganisms transform into something vibrant, flavourful and nourishing.

🥬 What we'll explore together:

🌱 Make your own kimchi from scratch and take a jar home to continue its journey of fermentation.

🌱 Discover the science behind fermentation. We'll explore what happens when microorganisms transform food, why certain fermented foods can support gut health, how fermentation affects nutrients and digestibility, and what current research tells us about the relationship between our gut microbiome and overall wellbeing.

🌱 Learn the art of food preservation — what to ferment, how to do it safely, and how to store your creations.

🌱 Explore other fermented delicacies you can prepare at home, and sample a selection of homemade fermented refreshments.

In a world that moves ever faster, fermentation invites us to slow down, trust natural processes and rediscover skills that have sustained generations. Food preservation is an act of resilience and self-sufficiency — a way of caring for ourselves, reducing waste and nurturing a deeper relationship with what we eat.

There is something quietly empowering about learning to nourish yourself. Working with our hands, sharing knowledge and gathering around food can bring a sense of connection, purpose and wellbeing.

✨ Come curious, leave inspired — with new skills, a jar of your own kimchi, a deeper understanding of the science of fermentation, and a little more connection to the living world.

All ingredients and equipment will be provided. No previous experience needed.
