Kimberly Akimbo

Everyone enjoys a coming-of-age story. When that story follows a teenager who physically ages at four times the normal rate, things get even more interesting.
That’s exactly what is in store in Theatre NDSU’s hilarious and heartwarming production of “Kimberly Akimbo: The Play” by David Lindsay-Abaire this December.
“Kimberly Akimbo” follows a lonely 16-year-old named Kimberly who is suffering from a disease that causes her to physically age much faster than normal. While her peers are dealing with the usual woes of adolescence, Kimberly is doing the same, but in the body of a wrinkled, gray-haired woman. When she meets a fellow misfit named Jeff, the two form an attachment that reignites Kimberly’s determination to find adventure while growing up and growing old in the suburbs of New Jersey.

Performances of “Kimberly Akimbo” are at 7:30 p.m. December 3 – 5 and 10 – 12 in Walsh Studio Theatre, the black box theatre located in the northwest corner of NDSU Askanase Hall (1497 12th Ave N).
