Kimbell Art Museum - FREE Friday Night Highlights Tour and Happy Hour

Meeting Point: Inside of the entrance to the Kahn Building (not the Piano Pavilion) of the Kimbell Art Museum: 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard - Fort Worth.

It’s Friday night, Robert & Michele invite you to a meetup at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth for a FREE guided tour of their amazing art collection.

Our tour will focus on the European collection, which includes works by: Michelangelo, El Greco, Caravaggio, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Goya, Vigée Le Brun, Turner, Delacroix, Manet, Cezanne, Monet, Matisse, and many more.

Please note that we won’t be touring the special exhibit “Art & War in the Renaissance: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries”, as that’s a separate event that requires a paid admission.

The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, hosts an art collection as well as traveling art exhibitions, educational programs and an extensive research library. Its initial artwork came from the private collection of Kay and Velma Kimbell, who also provided funds for a new building to house it.

The building was designed by architect Louis I. Kahn and is widely recognized as one of the most significant works of architecture of recent times. It is especially noted for the wash of silvery natural light across its vaulted gallery ceilings.

Event Details ...

Cost: FREE for the museum tour.

Weather: Our tour is indoors and will thus take place rain or shine; if it’s on the calendar then we’re proceeding as planned.

Parking: The museum has a free underground parking garage and there is also street parking available. Please arrive on site early so that you have plenty of time to find parking and walk to our meeting point.

Before the Event: From 5:00 - 7:00 pm there’s a Happy Hour in the Kahn Building with music provided by Allegro Guitar Society (not sure I can make this but you are welcome to).

Also, socializing at the museum’s Kahn Building entrance from 6:00 to 6:15 pm before our tour.

Meeting Point: 6:00 pm inside of the entrance to the Kahn Building (not the Piano Pavilion) of the Kimbell Art Museum: 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard - Fort Worth. Look for your hosts Robert (wearing a fedora-style hat) and Michele along with a group of friendly people.

We’ll depart on our tour at 6:15 pm.

Icebreaker Introductions: We should have a good-sized group and so instead of everyone introducing themselves to the group we will get to know each other by distributing blank stickers and colored markers and we’ll ask everyone to write down on their sticker: 1). first name. 2). favorite artist or type of art. Example: “Michele - Harlem Renaissance” or “Robert – Georgia O’Keeffe”.

After the Event: To-be-determined. Our tour will last until approximately 7:30 pm and the museum is open until 8:00 pm.
