AERIAL WORKSHOP DAY WITH KIM WILDBORNE – SUNDAY 26th FEBRUARY
We welcome the FABULOUS Kim Wildborne from RoguePlay Theatre Birmingham back into our studio once again! We are having an absolute Circus Extravaganza of a day, jam packed with workshops from 10am to 7pm!! Dare to join us for the WHOLE DAY?!

ABOUT KIM
Kim is an award winning Circus and Physical Theatre Director and Performer, with an
impressive 12 year history working with Gravity & Levity, Nofit State, Commonwealth Games 2022, and Nikon Photography. She is known for her strong dynamic technique and fluid originality on the most romantic of the aerial apparatus; silk. She is a lover of all things vertical, and her strong dynamic style carries through into her love of rope. Kim teaches, choreographs and directs extensively internationally, and is a lover of contemporary circus, pushing aerial practice.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
TRAPEZE WORKSHOP
Improver/Intermediate (2 hours)
Find the joy on the bar, the love of rolling around it, over it and underneath, using the ropes and finding some dynamics. This workshop will see you working at different heights on the bar as well as in the ropes, focusing on rolling and dropping on the bar. Higher level students will be pushed through penny drops, half twists and rope rolling, and improver students will develop fluidity and working with higher level drills.
Students should be able to mount the bar easily through straddle, pike and delilah as well as front balance with control.
SILK WORKSHOP: 'For The Love Of Silk'
Intermediate (2 hours)
Silk has always been one of the most romantic and dramatic circus arts, with endless
possibilities for creative expression. In this workshop we will celebrate this special apparatus
with some beautiful climbs and unusual drop sequences, focusing on grace of movement and aerial vocabulary. Rediscover why you fell in love with silk in the first place!
This is an intermediate level workshop suitable for students who can comfortably invert from a climb, and who work easily from catchers lock, hip lock and s-lock.
As usual, Injury prevention is key, meaning the classes develop body awareness, skeletal and
muscular understanding and language, as well as the application of those things in the air to
maintain a long healthy life as an aerial artist.
AERIAL SLING: ’Twist & Roll '
Imp/Int (2 hours)
Suitable for those with silk experience, this workshop explores the beauty and fluidity of
hammock.
Working a combination of drops and poses, find the joy on the sling, the love of rolling around it, over it and underneath, and finding some dynamics, as well as using hammock to work balance, flexibility and strength. The class culminates in artistic choreography using the movements learnt and exploration with music, striving for expression alongside technique.
FLEXIBILITY: ’Strong & Bendy'
All Levels (1 hour)
Being strong and bendy is super important for any physical activity, but for circus it can
make the difference between achieving the move and not!
Don't worry if you're not that bendy! This class works through a number of conditioning
exercises to build strength in your back, hips and shoulders, developing mobility and
flexibility in the hamstrings, hips, adductors, lower and upper back and shoulders. Basically,
working on all the bits you need to achieve splits and backbends, but also to keep the body
supple and protect it from injury. If you are already a contortionist and want to be pushed
further then you will be shown advanced elements of the stretches to help you always
progress.
