What is Kiero?
"Kiero" means "disappear" in Japanese — and that's exactly what happens to your kitchen scraps. Kiero was invented in Japan in the 1980s, and it has since spread across the country, especially among people who care about sustainable living.
Unlike a compost bin, Kiero works with plain topsoil. The soil doesn't build up the way a compost heap does, so you never have to dig it out and empty it. That's why non-gardeners can use it without worrying about emptying it out. It also has no smell — just the smell of soil.
Come along and get hands-on — try the drill yourself, and take home a building guide so you can build your own Kiero at home. No experience needed!
