Richie was a chestnut colored thoroughbred horse who gained entry into the 2022 Kentucky Derby just one day before the big race. With 80:1 odds to win the race, he shocked the crowd by moving from 18th place to 1st place. His never give up spirit will inspire children to always believe in themselves and do their best.
About the Author
Linda Bardere believes reading has the power to change lives. She writes with a goal to tell stories that entertain, inspire, inform and bring both joy and comfort to the reader.
As an author, Linda explores themes of resilience, determination, courage and the human spirit, drawing on her own life journey through adversity. Her work includes heartfelt stories of courageous underdogs who beat the odds. Linda is
passionate about helping others find their voice and courage through storytelling.
Linda’s first books, published in the 1990s by Teacher Created Materials, titled
Journeys and Overcoming Difficulties launched her writing career. In 2025, one
of her short stories was published in The New York TImes newspaper.
Linda currently resides in Colton, CA where she continues to write, create and hopefully inspire others on their own journeys.
