About this Event
We've all heard of regular monsters... but what about a Holiday Monster?
Come craft your very own Holiday Monster out of cardboard & recycled materials on December 21st from 11:30-12:30pm at the Foundry in Cambridge (The Point Room)!
What's in a monster? What's in a holiday monster? Most importantly, what's the difference between a regular monster and a holiday monster? Whether it's a giftwrap goblin, the infamous Grinch, a tinsel-tangled creature, or a cookie critter - we'll use our imaginations to design unique creatures that capture the holiday spirit, whether for good or mischief (however the holidays look for you & your family). We'll dive into what makes a memorable monster, what even makes a monster let alone a holiday monster, and bring our most wildest creations to life using cardboard & recycled materials.
This workshop is perfect for:
- Any & all tinkerers ages 7-12
- Young curious minds interested in a cardboard creators community
- Parents looking to spark their kids’ creativity & critical thinking skills
- Families who want to connect with other families in Cambridge
Tickets are sliding scale (pay what feels right). 25 seats available :) Email me ([email protected]) with any questions!
About the facilitator:
Hey hey! I’m Amy & I'm on a mission to create the biggest cardboard creators community EVER so that every kid has a crew to spark their creativity…starting with Cambridge! I'm an alum of the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Learning Design, Innovation & Technology program. At HGSE, I worked on a slew of projects focused on making creativity accessible by conceptualizing an interactive sensory-based game, redesigning a toy table for an MIT startup, and developing paintable playspaces for preschoolers. Before that, I studied media & education at UC Berkeley, then hopped over to BümoBrain, an online preschool where I managed operations for subscription boxes. For the past 3 years, I've facilitated 100+ workshops both in-person & online for over 250+ kids ages 6-12! Most recently, I developed curriculum for and taught creative workshops at Cresconova, an online academy for gifted students (think "Make a Monster, Shadow Rats, Game Tactics & Negotiation, etc.). I’m obsessed with designing learning experiences that are fun, accessible & unique :)
