About this Event
Kids Recycled Instrument Workshop with Dendê Macêdo
Join Riverfront North for a fun, hands-on musical experience as part of Philly Jazz Month!
On Friday, April 25 at 1 PM, families are invited to Borski Park for a creative workshop led by percussionist Dendê Macêdo. In this interactive session, kids will learn how to build their own percussion instruments using recycled materials and explore rhythm through play.
This workshop highlights the power of creativity and sustainability—showing how everyday objects can be transformed into music-making tools.
Please note: Registration for this workshop is separate from the evening performance and space may be limited.
What to Bring
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring a recycled item to turn into an instrument, such as:
- Empty soda cans or plastic bottles
- Toilet paper or paper towel rolls
- Small boxes or containers
- Any other clean, recyclable materials
Don’t worry if you can’t bring anything—materials will also be provided on-site.
Come ready to create, make noise, and have fun—then stick around or come back later for the evening performance at 6 PM!
The evening performance is supported and funded by Philly Jazz Month and Creative Philadelphia. More information and to register for that event can be found here!
We hope you can join us along the river celebrating music and sustainability.
