About this Event
Well, it happened: a Wizarding School Exhibition that directly supports anti-trans efforts has come to Boston. But what do we say to the bigots? NOT TODAY!
Side Quest Books & Games is SO PUMPED to be bringing 9 incredible Game Masters from groups like Boston Gaymers, Fight the Exposition, Worlds 4 All and more to Bow Market for a full day of safe, inclusive, unabashedly queer-friendly fun. There are so many ways to live out your dreams of being a student at a magical wizarding academy, and we're going to show you one!
All 9 tables will be running the phenomenal tabletop role-playing game "Kids on Brooms," designed by Hunters Entertainment and powered by their award-winning "Kids on Bikes" system. It's quick to learn and intuitive to play — you don't need to have played it before to hop right in.
Each group of 5 players plus their GM will spend the morning creating characters, discussing safety tools to keep your game comfortable for everyone, and talking about the wizarding academy world. We'll then break for lunch (pizza included in your ticket!), and then gameplay will run until 5:30!
We hope you'll join us for a day full of exuberant joy to support the Massachusetts Trans Emergency Fund!
Play! As! Protest!

Things to know about the day!
Player age
- This event is for players 16+.
Covid precautions
- Masks are optional. We will have plenty available for free at the event, should you want one. We will also have free Covid tests available at the door, and we will be running a raffle for anyone who takes a test at the event or shows a photo of a negative test from that morning.
Food & drink
- The wonderful folks at Josephine, the restaurant at the Cambria Hotel down the street, are donating delicious pizza for lunch! If you wish you pick up something else from any of the Bow Market vendors, please do. You're allowed to bring that back to Upstairs.
- Coffee will be provided in the morning. Once Nook opens at 12:30, you can get any other drinks you want there.
Getting here
- Upstairs at Bow is the event space just off the upstairs lobby at Bow Market in Somerville's Union Square. When you come up the main driveway, go past Rebel Rebel, turn right into the downstairs lobby, and head up either the staircase or the elevator. Upstairs is right in front of you.
- Parking around Union Square can be tricky, but parking is free on Sundays. We do recommend taking public transportation (Union Square T stop on the Green Line is super close!), or carpooling if you can.

More about your ticket dollars
We're all about transparency here! A portion of your ticket will go towards paying the GMs for their time, and also towards paying Side Quest Books & Games for event coordination and staffing. Dollars also go towards bringing in coffee from Remnant, and providing plates and napkins for lunch. The remainder goes entirely to the Trans Emergency Fund. If we sell out this event, we will be donating about $2200 to the organization.
