Kids Fiber Workshop Ages 8 and up - Knitathon 2024 Session 3

This 1 hour workshop is for kids ages 8 and up. We will have a basic demo of weaving on a little cardboard loom. Your child will be able to make a piece of fabric! This is not a drop off class - we request that you stay with your child. There are 3 sessions, please only sign up for 1 session.

Knitathon is a 24 hour fiber fest, from noon to noon November 16th and 17th focusing on knitting and crocheting, along with spinning and weaving demos, and round the clock hands-on knit and crochet help. Open to fiber artists of all levels and backgrounds!

We’ll be giving away knit and crochet kits for walk-ins and participants. We will also be hosting a knit and crochet competition to be judged at hour 22.

We will be calling for volunteers with knit and crochet experience to help assist our staff around this 24 hr event.

We will have a grand prize at the end of the event - a Spinning Wheel to make your own yarn!

What is the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center? We are a community art center funded by the City of Philadelphia located in the Northeast section of Philadelphia. We are a program of Mural Arts Philadelphia.

At the Tacony LAB, providing accessible and free art is a priority. We offer free classes for adults and children. Our classes range from fiber arts, drawing and painting, to crafting and more. We provide a safe and inclusive space to work on your projects while receiving support from our attending artists and staff.
