About this Event
Our Kids Cook the Farm classes invite young chefs to explore the farm through food, cooking, and curiosity. In each session, we’ll discover where our ingredients come from, learn simple cooking skills, and prepare a seasonal dish using fresh harvests from the fields. Along the way, kids will connect the dots between healthy soil, nutritious food, and caring for the land—all while tasting their way through the farm. These hands-on classes are designed to be fun, educational, and delicious!
*About Jenny the Instructor- My passion for nutrition, sustainable food systems, and cooking grew out of my own health journey and a desire to understand root causes. While studying nutrition in college, I had the opportunity to live in Florence, Italy, where I immersed myself in the Mediterranean diet and food culture. There, I witnessed the deep connection between food, producers, and communities—something I hadn’t experienced in the U.S. At the same time, I noticed that my health symptoms improved abroad, sparking a realization: food as medicine extends beyond the individual and is deeply connected to how our food is grown and sourced.
This insight reshaped my path. I earned a BS in Nutritional Sciences from UW–Milwaukee and an MS in Agriculture, Food, and Environment from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, where my graduate work focused on culinary nutrition as a bridge between public health and sustainable food systems. I’ve worked with organizations researching the connections between farming practices and nutrient density, and I have years of experience in both nutrition education and food systems work. For me, cooking is more than a skill—it's a way to weave together health, sustainability, community, and culture to create meaningful impact. As a new mom, I’m especially excited to support children and young adults in deepening their relationship with food.
This path has set me on a mission to reconnect people to food, where it comes from, and how it’s grown as a way to strengthen individual, community, and planetary health. My cooking ethos is simple: locally sourced, in-season, full of flavor, and simply cooked. I’m excited to bring this passion to and connect with the Gwenyn Hill community.
