Selamlik er Furats historie. Den foregår i et Syrien, der ikke længere findes, i et ingenmandsland på flugt fra en borgerkrig og i en lille smålandsk provinsby. Den handler mændene i Damaskus’ offentlige bade. Om vold og krig. Om flugten til Fort Europa og om ventetiden som asylansøger i Sverige. Om kærlighed, lyst og sex og om at finde sig selv.
Mød Alesmael (han/ham) og forfatterfælle Elias Sadaq (han/ham) i en forfatter til forfatter-samtale. Om Selamlik, Alesmaels brutale, poetiske og erotiske debutroman, der nu endeligt foreligger på dansk og Djinn, Sadaqs prisbelønnede digtsamling. En samtale om queerness, maskuliniteter og seksualitet i muslimsk litteratur. Om flugt, frihed og håb.

Khaled Alesmael (f. 1979) er en syrisk queer forfatter, journalist og prisbelønnet filmmager. Alesmael, nu bosiddende i London, kaster fortsat og vedvarende lys på ytringsfrihed i konfliktområder, migration og LGBTQ+ spørgsmål, i både skrift og tale.
Selamlik, Alesmaels debutroman blev udgivet i Sverige i 2018 på grund af fordømmelsen af homoseksualitet i de ikke-demokratiske arabisk-talende lande.
Gateway to the Sea, Alesmaels seneste udgivelse fra 2020 er en samling af vidnesbyrd fra 10 arabiske homoseksuelle mænd.
Elias Sadaq (f. 1994) er en dansk-marokkansk digter og dramatiker. Sadaq debuterede som forfatter i 2019 med den digitale digtsamling GADESTREGER og fulgte i 2024 debuten op med DJINN, en digtsamling om besættelse og begær, udgivet på forlaget Gyldendal.

Selamlik is the story of Furat. It takes place in a Syria, which no longer excists, in a no man's land escaping a civil war and in a provincial town in Småland, Sweden. Selamlik tells the story of the men in the public baths in Damascus. Of violence and war. Of the escape to Fort Europe and of the unberable waiting time as an asylum seeker in Sweden. The story of love, lust and sex and of finding yourself.
Meet Khaled Alesmael (he/him) and fellow writer Elias Sadaq (he/him) in a conversation, one author to another. A conversation on queerness, masculinities and sexuality in Muslim literature and furthermore on migration, freedom and hope.
This conversation will be in English.
Khaled Alesmael (b. 1979) is a Syrian queer writer, journalist and acclaimed filmmaker. Now residing in London, Alesmael writes on and gives public talks about freedom of expression in conflict areas, migration and LGBTQ+ issues.
Alesmael debut novel, Selamlik was released in Sweden in 2018, due to the disapproval of homosexuality in non-democratic Arabic-speaking countries. His latest release is the non-fiction work, Gateway to the Sea in 2020, a collection of testimonies from ten Arab gay men.
Elias Sadaq (b. 1994) is a Danish poet and playwright. He debuted as a writer in 2019 with a collection of poems, GADESTREGER (in English: STREETLINES). In 2024, Sadaq then released Djinn, a collection of poems about obsession and desire, published by Gyldendal.
