Every year, starting around the middle of summer, those of us on the planning committee get asked how things are going? What's new? What's changed? Are sandwich prices going up or down? And then we are told about the family and friends coming home for Labor Day weekend, the outlandish moments of fun from past celebrations and the anticipation of a pork chop sandwich or cotton candy or lemonade shake-up!This year marks the 70th annual Kewanee Hog Days. We've been doing food, festival and fun since 1954 and whether any of us were around or not for that very first one, it's STILL feels good that we can count on a final summer weekend to have some fun before preparing for Fall and Winter and all the reliable occasions found there!
September 1 - 4, 2023, Labor Day weekend, is the date for this year's event. And even though you've rode the Ferris wheel, watched the entertainment and eaten the pork chops many times before, get ready to do it again! Because with Hog Days, the feeling, never gets old!
