Outsiders and Others is excited to present The Roadside Museum of the Mind featuring new artworks by Kevin House.
Kevin House is a self taught artist, writer, and musician currently based in Vancouver B.C.
“I like to think of my practice as private investigative work in a sense. Working intuitively through a multitude of mediums to uncover some kind of mysterious narrative.
A book about a book that never got written, an artist who destroyed all of his paintings, photographs of sculptures of cameras that are not exactly cameras, the last ticket booth, letters to and from a star, conundrumology, the Phantom Crutch co., are some of the works on display.
This latest work is a collection of sculptures, paintings. and photographs that I imagine discovering buried in some attic, flea market, or museum in the mind. The subconscious will do much of the work, I just have to pay attention and put the hours in.”
Kevin’s work has been exhibited at the New York Outsider Art Fair, as well as being included in the private collections of actor Malcolm McDowell, singer Norah Jones, director Bruce McDonald, writer Katherine Dunn, writer Timothy Taylor, and artist Joe Coleman, to mention a few.
He is also featured in the recently published book Outsider Art of Canada, has been featured on CBC radio, in Geist magazine, Globe and Mail, The Province, and Elle Magazine.

Outsiders and Others is a non-profit art Society who has a mission to bring non-traditional artists to the forefront. This includes artists that identify as outsider, self-taught, and artists living with disabilities.
We advocate for and promote artists who struggle to receive equitable representation within the arts and culture community, offering them a professional opportunity to be recognized as artists who deserve support and artistic recognition.
