Sunnuntaina 20. syyskuuta Lymyssä (Pengerkatu 6), ovet auki 16:00, alku 16:15.
Suomen 90-luku muistutti nykyaikaa: talous oli lamassa, oikeistohallitus teki rajuja leikkauksia, äärioikeisto oli nousussa. Mediassa kirjoitettiin natsi-skinheadien väkivallasta Joensuussa, mutta äärioikeiston teki väkivaltaisia iskuja ympäri Suomen.
Äärioikeiston nousua vastustamaan syntyi paikallisia Antifa-ryhmiä, jotka yhdistyivät valtakunnalliseksi Antifa ry -järjestöksi, jolla oli suurimmillaan paikallisryhmiä 11 paikkakunnalla. Siinä missä Antifa-ryhmät järjestivät mielenosoituksia ja avointa toimintaa, AFA-nimellä järjestettiin suoraa toimintaa.
Tapahtumassa keskustelemme 90-luvun antifasistien kokemuksista, ja mitkä niistä ovat relevantteja myös tämän päivän antifasistiselle liikkeelle. Alustukset 90-luvulla toimineen Antifa ry:n ensimmäiseltä puheenjohtajalta Horke Lavennolta, ja toiselta puheenjohtajalta Juhani Lohikoskelta. Tapahtumassa muistetaan myös niitä 90-luvun Antifan aktivisteja, jotka eivät ole enää keskuudessamme, kuten Seppo Harjunpäätä ja Jantsa Kärkkäistä. Tervetuloa!

Discussion: Antifa in 90s Finland

At Lymy (Pengerkatu 6), doors open at 4 PM, discussion starts at 4:15 PM.
There are similarities between Finland in the 90s and today: economic depression, drastic austerity measures by a right-wing government, and the rise of the far right. The media covered violence by Nazi skinheads in Joensuu, but the far right was committing violent attacks all around Finland. The rise of the far right was opposed by local Antifa groups, which united to form a nationwide Antifa organisation that, at its height, had 11 local groups around the country. While demonstrations and open activities were organised under the Antifa label, direct actions were carried out under the AFA label.
At the event, we will discuss the experiences of 90s anti-fascists and which of these are relevant to the anti-fascist movement today. Introductions will be given by the first chairperson of the Antifa organisation of the 90s and by its second chairperson, Juhani Lohikoski. At the event, we will also commemorate those 90s activists who are no longer with us, such as Seppo Harjunpää and Jantsa Kärkkäinen. Welcome!
