Guest Speaker and renowned Central Valley water expert Lois will be looking at the history of the ownership of the Kern River to include how, when, and why, it became mostly dry through Bakersfield, and the status of the current legal quest to bring water back to the riverbed.
About Lois Henry
SJV Water CEO and Editor Lois Henry has spent 30 years covering the San Joaquin Valley. Henry spent 10 years as a Manager at The Bakersfield Californian, and was the Lead Editor for the paper’s many award-winning projects. In 2007, she began a twice weekly, investigative column and was able to focus on one of her passions –water. Her
goal has been to help community members understand the complexities of the often arcane topic of water. She continues that mission through SJV Water. SJV Water is an independent, nonprofit news site dedicated to covering water news in the San Joaquin Valley.
