Japanese Pottery Exhibition by Kentarou Murayama

Join us at Time & Style Amsterdam for the opening of Beauty Through Use, a solo exhibition by Karatsu pottery artist Kentarou Murayama.

Rooted in the 450-year tradition of Karatsu ware from Saga Prefecture, Murayama creates pottery from materials he gathers himself from the mountains of Karatsu, including soil, stone, and iron. His practice explores the relationship between nature, craftsmanship, and everyday life, with a particular focus on the belief that a piece is only truly completed through use.

The exhibition presents approximately 1,000 works, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Murayama's pottery, materials, and approach to craftsmanship.

Karatsu: Landscape, Culture, and the Beauty of Imperfection

During the Artist Talk, Murayama will speak about his relationship with the landscape of Karatsu, his approach to collecting and refining natural materials, and the philosophy behind his work.

Kentarou Murayama will be present at Time & Style Amsterdam throughout the opening weekend, 5–7 September, offering visitors the opportunity to meet the artist and experience his work in person.
