About this Event

The Ken Soble Tower Transformation is a ground-breaking project rehabilitating a post-war apartment tower in Hamilton, Ontario. The achieved goal meets Passive House standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a staggering 94% and lays the groundwork for industry-wide, ultra-low energy retrofits needed to maintain and upgrade thousands of apartments across Canada.

Cara Sloat is a Toronto-based mechanical engineer and principal at Hammershlag and Joffe, a 100 person M&E firm serving projects across Canada. She has more than 20 years of mechanical design experience and a focus on low-energy decarbonized multi-unit residential and commercial buildings, using both air-source or geo-exchange heat pumps. Cara also serves on the board of Toronto’s 2030 District and is a UWaterloo alumni.
