Ken Russell's The Devils

A 17th-century priest becomes the target of a sexually repressed nun’s witchcraft accusations, which corrupt church and civil leaders happily exploit for their own gain.
An enduring work of cinema starring Academy Award-winner Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed, Ken Russell’s The Devils is an epic tale of obsession, corruption, and faith. Heavily censored upon its initial release in the United States, this rerelease restoration is the uncut and unfiltered theatrical experience that the pioneering British director always envisioned and that cinephiles have long clamored for.
