Ballader og swing fra den berømte saxofonist og klarinettist med solid backing
Saxofonisten og klarinettisten Ken Peplowski hører til den absolutte verdensklasse.
Hans CV er om muligt længere end Roy Haynes'. Og hans improvisatoriske evner sammenlignes med giganter som Stan Getz og Poul Desmond.
Så denne aften er der lagt op til noget stort. Ikke mindst fordi han går på scenen med NHØPs barndomskammerat og mangeårige akkompagnatør Ole Kock Hansen på flygel.
Med et solidt fundament i den traditionelle amerikanske musiktradition, spiller Peplowski easy-living ballader til perfektion med den skønneste klarinet klang. Det næste øjeblik kan han blæse loftet til stratosfæren med sit hæsblæsende, hurtige uptempo-swing.
Ken Peplowski har indspillet over 70 albums som solist, tæt på 400 som sideman og har arbejdet og indspillet med giganter som: Charlie Byrd, Mel Torme, Hank Jones, Peggy Lee, Bill Charlap, Woody Allen, Benny Goodman og Madonna.
Derudover har han været hovednavn på spillesteder og koncertsale som: Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Birdland, the Blue Note, og Dizzy’s m. fl.
Med sig på Montmartre har han tre stjerne musikere. Ud over Ole Kock Hansen på klaver, skal vi møde Hans Backenroth (bas) og Kristian Leth (trommer). Alle tunge spillere på den internationale jazzscene.

Saxophonist and clarinetist Ken Peplowski is absolutely world-class.
His CV is, if possible, longer than Roy Haynes'. And his improvisational skills are compared to giants like Stan Getz and Poul Desmond.
So this evening is set for something big. Not least because he will take the stage with NHØP's childhood friend and long-time accompanist Ole Kock Hansen on the grand piano.
With a solid foundation in the traditional American music tradition, Peplowski plays easy-living ballads to perfection with the most beautiful clarinet sound. The next moment he can blow the ceiling to the stratosphere with his blistering, fast uptempo swing.
Ken Peplowski has recorded over 70 albums as a soloist, close to 400 as a sideman and has worked and recorded with giants like: Charlie Byrd, Mel Torme, Hank Jones, Peggy Lee, Bill Charlap, Woody Allen, Benny Goodman and Madonna.
