Location

• We will meet at the Youth Science Institute (YSI) building, which has washrooms. Once you enter the park, keep going ALL the way to the furthest parking lot, which is the Mineral Springs Parking Area. Then cross over the footbridge to the YSI building. The distance from the park entrance to the Mineral Springs Parking Area is significant, so we recommend getting to the park entrance by 9:45am in order to be at the YSI by 10am.
• The address of the park entrance is 15350 Penitencia Creek Rd, San Jose, CA 95127
• Parking is technically $6.00, but recently the parking machines have been removed and the payment signs are gone, so unless they get replaced or payment is requested at the entrance, parking will be free.

Ticket Cost: Free! However, please register so we will know how many people signed up.

Details

• We will be hiking the South Rim Trail. The entire course is 4.2 miles, but there are two opportunities for short cuts along the trail for those who want to hike less.
• Recommend applying sunscreen before hiking.
• The trail is mostly shady, but we still recommend bringing sunglasses.
• Please bring water bottle or water camel-back (backpack).
• Suggest carrying bug spray.
• It may be hot, so suggest wearing a T-shirt or polo shirt.
• There is a restroom at the Youth Science Institute. Recommend bringing hand sanitizer.
