Keep Going Together Art Show: A First Fridays Exhibit of Creativity, Care and Community
First Fridays Reception at Central Library, 3rd Floor on Fri Sept 5, 500-700pm
What does it mean to “Keep Going Together”?
Keep Going Together hosts a community art exhibit at the Central Library that explores how creativity and connection hold us together.
Keep Going Together, a grassroots organization which works with non-profits to reduce suffering and harm in Charlottesville, hosts the Keep Going Together Art Show at the Central Library (201 E. Market St.) in September & October. The exhibit will include a range of creative pieces – from paintings and drawings, collage and photographs, to pottery and sculpture – by artists from around the community.
The show and its surrounding events explore what it means to "Keep Going Together" and offer the experience of collective effervescence that happens when we create and act together.
“Even when things are hard, community creativity holds us together,” said Susan McCulley from Keep Going Together. “None of us can do everything but together we can do a lot. Our strength lies in everyone showing up with their talents and passion to offer what they can. The result is richer and more beautiful than what any one of us could do alone.”
Donate and Get Art! During the First Friday exhibit, pieces from the show are available for purchase with all proceeds from the show going to support JMRL.
In addition to the Keep Going Together Art Show and Reception, enjoy music and refreshments while supporting books and our library system. The show hangs on the 3rd floor of the Central Library through the end of October.
Mark your calendar: Join Keep Going Together on Friday, October 3, 5-7pm for a celebration of banned books with a talk by photographer Karen Pape, creator of the De-Circulated which hangs at the UVA Law School and interactive discussion.
