Program Description:
With major shifts in federal health care funding, nurses and advocates are exploring pathways toward universal health care. At this Fall Summit, we’ll examine different models, how they could work and the history of these efforts in Washington state.
Carey Wallace, RN, MSN, MBA Whole Washington board chair, will guide the discussion, drawing on her experience as a nurse, advocate and member of WSNA’s Legislative and Health Policy Council. Bring your questions!
A representative from WSNA’s Government Affairs Department will discuss the organization’s historical support for universal health care, explain how it differs from a single-payer system and share current legislative priorities.
We’ll also explore the role of Washington’s Universal Health Care Commission in expanding access and preparing for a potential health system that covers everyone.
Nurses in Action (pending approval): Following the presentation, we will assemble about 400 cold/flu kits for Real Change newspaper vendors.
