About this Event
P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Kayla E. for a discussion of her newest book, : an experimental graphic memoir concerned with violence and a particularly Texan brand of Pentecostal fanaticism, depicted in the style of mid-century children's comics.
Kayla will be joined in coversation by comics journalist Heidi MacDonald. After the conversation and audience Q&A, Kayla will also sign copies of .

- This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating. Doors open at 6:30pm.
- Cost of a $5 general admission ticket can be applied towards your purchase of the featured event book or any product in our café the night of an event.
- Cost of a book bundle ticket reflects the total cost of the feature event book (MSRP plus tax). Each book bundle ticket guarantees ticket holders one (1) copy of the feature event book.
- The talk will be followed by a book signing. Books signed at P&T Knitwear events must be purchased from P&T Knitwear. If you would like a signed copy and cannot attend the event, we're happy to take your pre-order. We ship most places!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
(she/her) is an award-winning Texas-born artist of Mexican American descent. She works as creative director at Fantagraphics and is a recipient of a 2023-2024 Princeton Hodder Fellowship. She is the co-founder and former President of Nat. Brut Inc., a non-profit that produces an art and literary magazine, of which she was the Editor-in-Chief for nine years. She earned her B.A. in Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard University, where she served as the Art Director for the Harvard Lampoon. Precious Rubbish, her graphic novel debut, is a work of trauma recollection told in the style of post-war children’s comics. Kayla lives in North Carolina with her wife and two dogs. ABOUT THE MODERATOR
is an award-winning editor/journalist with 20 years of experience. An editor at Disney and DC Comics, she edited such titles as The Lion King, Scooby Doo, Swamp Thing, and Y: The Last Man. She cohosts Publishers Weekly’s graphic novel podcast, "More to Come," and has spoken around the world about comics and graphic novels.
