About this Event
Inspired by the music of Julie London, Peggy Lee and Blossom Dearie, vocalist Katya Gorrie invites the listener to engage in the story of the lyrics, with her sultry tone and hip phrasing.
Katya is the frontwoman of the very popular band Moscow Drug Club. With her quartet, this wonderful vocalist, composer and performer returns to her musical roots of Jazz & Blues.
Joining Katya will be:
Bassist Will Harris, best known for his lynchpin role in The Jazz Defenders, with whom he has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe. He has appeared regularly with Iain Ballamy, David Newton and Andy Sheppard. Will studied under Dave Holland at the Royal Academy of Music and has toured with US saxophone legend Chris Potter, as well as UK rising stars Matt Anderson and Jonny Mansfield.
Andy Bowen is a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger and educator, and has performed at many prestigious jazz festivals in the UK and internationally. Andy specialises in the jazz and swing music of the 1930s and 40s, and is also a guitarist in the Django Reinhardt-inspired ensemble Swing from Paris.
Dan Newberry is a talented sax player who has played all over Europe and in legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott’s in London and The Rainbow Room in New York. He has shared the stage with Dennis Rollins, Jeremy Stacey, Gareth Williams, John Law, and Alex Clarke, to name a few.
