Katy Siegel: “Joan Mitchell: Life and Death”

For Joan Mitchell, painting was a way of life, and a way to keep living. Her enormous late canvases, buzzing with electric color and athletic brushstrokes, testify to the beauty of life and art, even amidst inevitable loss.

Celebrate the centennial of pioneering artist Joan Mitchell with a talk by art historian Katy Siegel, examining Mitchell’s life and artwork, including the iconic works, Ici and Untitled (both 1992), which are on view at the Saint Louis Art Museum and Kemper Art Museum (as part of Making Their Mark), respectively.

Afterward enjoy a reception at the Kemper Art Museum and an opportunity to view . Roundtrip bus transportation will be available between museums.
