Katina is one of the major Buddhist events of the year, taking place after monastics complete their three-month rainy season retreat. On this occasion, lay devotees offer the Katina robe and other necessities to monastics as an expression of gratitude.
We are pleased to announce that the Annual Katina Ceremony of Oregon Buddhist Vihara will be held on Sunday, October 12th, 2025.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Oregon Buddhist Vihara. To commemorate this milestone, Ven. Pallebage Chandrasiri Mahanayake Thero has advised that the entire OBV community sponsor this year’s Katina Ceremony. We are sharing the preparation details and seeking your generous support, both in funding and volunteering, to make this event a success.
Expenses:
The primary expenses involve covering travel and pirikara (donations) for the 20 monks attending, many of whom will be traveling from other states.
Financial Contributions:
We respectfully accept donations of any amount. Contributions can be made via:
• Cheque: Payable to Oregon Buddhist Vihara
• Zelle: [email protected]
Please include “OBV Katina 2025” in the memo line.
Volunteering Opportunities:
We need volunteers for various tasks and coordinators to help organize the event. Please sign up for any task that interests you and contribute your time and energy.
Thank you very much for your participation and generosity!
With gratitude,
On behalf of Oregon Buddhist Vihara
