Please join us for a light brunch while our winter gallery artist, Kate Gray speaks about her new show - External Atmosphere - Art That Surrounds Us.
External Atmosphere is a body of work that explores the world we awaken to, live within, and cherish—from sunrise to sunset. From the complexity of ever-changing clouds to the brilliance
of explosive sunsets, the natural world, combined with the emotions stirred by life’s magical moments, serves as the central inspiration for this collection.
In creating this work, I discovered that by shifting my awareness away from the noise and chaos of everyday life and toward the quiet, often unexpected moments of beauty around me, I could
experience life as a gift. These moments nurtured my soul and created a peaceful, restorative space—a personal atmosphere in which to thrive.
Journal Notes
The External Atmosphere Journal was thoughtfully designed to honor and capture the sense of hope that each new day brings.
The “well wishes” featured throughout the journal serve as visual affirmations – expressions of the positive energy that can shape our daily lives. Accompanying these messages are curated images excerpted from original paintings showcased in the External Atmosphere Art Show – 2025. Each image highlights a small detail from a larger work, intentionally selected to encourage mindfulness and an appreciation for the subtle beauty in everyday moments – because often, it’s the smallest details that leave the deepest impression.
Kate Gray is a professional fine artist and graphic designer. Gray has won numerous art and design awards and has been featured in more than 50 art exhibitions. She received her B.F.A.
from the University of North Texas and her M.F.A. from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Gray has more than 30 years of professional experience in all areas of communication, education, design and art fields. Currently, Gray is the graphic designer at Independent Stave Company.
