Kat and the Hurricane is genre- and gender-bending indie-pop/synth-rock trio from Madison,Wisconsin. Lead singer/guitarist Kat Rhapsody (they/them), keyboardist/vocalist Benjamin Rose (they/them), and drummer Alex Nelson (they/them) deliver a unique blend of pop and haunting indie rock they affectionately refer to as "sad lesbian music." Or to put it in technical terms, a gender- and genre- defiant mix of queer emo & sapphic bops.
"Kat and the Hurricane is like a storm on the horizon. You see it coming, and when it hits, you better be ready." - Teri Barr https://katandthehurricane.com/
Chicago-based songwriter and singer Josephine Luhman is a Midwestern musician through and through. Born in the small town of Northfield, MN, where her mother was a pastor, she’d spend a lot of her time in church. On days when the pews were empty, she’d sit at the piano, teaching herself how to play, singing loudly and with confidence. Later in her teen years, her family moved to the sprawling city of St. Paul where she learned guitar and GarageBand. She's been hooked on music ever since. Luhman now pursues and performs her work in Chicago, IL sharing her music as Josephine. Her work can sound like three songs in one, with soft yet driving guitars, lush harmonies, and romantic lyrics. Before going by her first name, she released bedroom pop under the name Joz, but during lockdown she craved a different, more candid sound. This desire for change led to Josephine. She currently has three singles out as well as her debut EP Leaning
“Josephine delivers warm, lush, heart wrenching folk pop tones with strong vocals, intimatelyricism and captivating arrangements that contain both sparse, intimate moments and big, swirling walls of sound.” -KEXP

Twin Cities’ rising indie artist Mike Kota is a twenty-six-year-old singer-songwriter, marked by haunting vocals, rock-influenced guitar, thoughtful lyrics and passionate performance. The multi-instrumentalist and producer released her debut EP Rift in 2021, garnering attention from a wide audience, including Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran who described Mike as “artist who just blows you away”. By January 2023, Mike appeared as one of First Avenue’s Best New Bands of 2022, and in May 2023, Kota was opening for a sold out Hozier crowd on the First Ave mainstage. Following Rift, Mike released singles and collaborative works, while gigging locally, opening for an impressive roster of artists such as Homeshake, Shakey Graves, and Lucius. Kota’s latest release was her sophomore EP Turning A Corner, the first in-studio recordings for the independent artist, which was in part crowdfunded by her community. Since the release, it has gained over 240,000 streams on Spotify alone.
