This tournament is played on Mario Kart 64 using original hardware on the Nintendo 64.

All participants are expected to read and understand these rules before competing.

1. FORMAT

Field

• 32 Players
• 4 Players per Heat

Advancement Structure

• Round 1: 32 → 16 (Top 2 advance per heat)
• Round 2: 16 → 8 (Top 2 advance per heat)
• Round 3: 8 → 4 (Top 2 advance per heat)
• Final: 4 Players (Champion determined by total points)

2. RACE SETTINGS (STANDARDIZED)

• Engine Class: 150cc
• Mode: VS Mode
• CPU Racers: OFF
• Items: ON
• Number of Races per Heat: 4
• Finals: 8 total races (2 Grand Prix sets)

No settings may be altered.

3. SCORING SYSTEM

Standard Mario Kart 64 scoring:

• 1st Place – 9 points
• 2nd Place – 6 points
• 3rd Place – 3 points
• 4th Place – 1 point

Total cumulative points determine advancement.

If tied:

• Highest finishing position in final race breaks tie.
• If still tied: 1-race tiebreaker on a randomly selected track.

4. COURSE SELECTION

Courses are pre-selected by tournament organizers.

Players may not request course changes.

Final race of the tournament will be Rainbow Road.

5. CONTROLLER POLICY

• Controllers are assigned by tournament staff.
• No personal controllers unless pre-approved.
• If a controller is malfunctioning, notify staff before the race begins.
• No restarts once the race has started unless:
• • Console freezes
  • Game crashes

Loose joystick complaints after a race will not result in replay.

6. START PROCEDURE

• Players must be present when their heat is called.
• 5-minute grace period maximum.
• Failure to appear = disqualification.

No race will be delayed for absent players.

7. CONDUCT

The following are prohibited:

• Pausing mid-race
• Intentionally blocking screens
• Unplugging controllers
• Physically interfering with other players
• Excessive unsportsmanlike behavior

Tournament staff decisions are final.

8. NO RESTART POLICY

Races will NOT be restarted due to:

• Bad item luck
• Early spinouts
• Falling off track
• Player error

Mario Kart chaos is part of the competition.

9. FINALS FORMAT

The Final Round consists of:

• 4 Players
• 8 Total Races
• Cumulative scoring determines Champion

Highest total points wins.

10. PRIZES

Prize distribution will be announced before Round 1 begins.

Winners must claim prizes the night of the event.

11. ORGANIZER AUTHORITY

Tournament organizers reserve the right to:

• Modify structure if necessary
• Disqualify players for misconduct
• Resolve disputes at their discretion

All rulings are final.
