We are a modern chorus girl troupe dedicated to continuing the traditions of the chorus troupe and acknowledging the lineage that generations of chorus members in years past have created for us.
Rehearsals take place every Wednesday 7pm - 9pm at Music Theater Heritage.
Every Canary pays monthly dues of $40 for rehearsal costs with the exception of when we need additional rehearsals for big gigs.
We are looking for:
The Kansas City Canaries are looking for several feminine and fem presenting dancers to the cast of our ambitious, fun, and talented team. We are looking for dancers with a combination of the following talents:
- Dance ability and coordination
- Capacity to learn choreography
- Performance ability and showmanship
- Positive attitude and team culture fit
Audition Process:
- Auditions will take place Saturday, January 25th, 10am at Music Theater Heritage. (Located on the 3rd floor of Crown Center)
- After you fill out your information sheet and receive your number, you will learn two short pieces of choreography and perform it in groups.
- Please come prepared to do some solo jazz as we will have everyone perform solos to a random jazz song of the Canaries choosing. A lot of our performances are improv based and to live music.
What to wear:
- Kansas City Canaries typically perform in 2-inch heels. For your audition, please bring comfortable dance heels and wear athletic clothing.
After auditions we will contact each and every dancer who auditions to inform you if you made the team or not. We want to encourage anyone who doesn’t make the team to re-audition.
