Kanjonavo Sabud

Kanjonavo Sabud (Sitar), rising Senior in Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), Virginia, is also an ardent follower of Indian classical music, with special aptitude in Sitar. He was introduced to Sitar at the age of eleven during summer of 2018 under the guidance of Shri Dipanjan Guha of Senia Maihar Gharana, Dipanjan Guha is based in Kolkata and longtime senior disciple of Pandit Kushal Das. Since beginning Kanjonavo has been learning Sitar in complete virtual setup, except a few months of in-person training in India during his summer breaks.Kanjonavo has performed solo Sitar recital under “Talents for the Future” section of 3 days long Indian Music Festival organized by Chhandayan at Franklin Parks Arts Center, Purcellville, Virginia in October 2022. He was blessed to have Pandit Sameer Chatterjee accompany him in the Jhala portion of his Sitar recital. He recently won the Second Prize in Instrumental Category (Intermediate Group) in Chhandayan International Music Competition in 2023.He is the recipient of AACM (Ali Akbar Khan College of Music) Full Scholarship 2023. He has also started taking vocal instruction from his Grandfather Shri Ajit Kumar Rakshit. Beyond Music and Study, Kanjonavo is a passionate Environmentalist and he loves Soccer, Theatre, Animation and Ethics Bowl.
