Kando Karate & Culture Japan Tour!In November 2025 Kando will be heading to Japan for it's first Karate & Culture Tour!
You're invited to an information night on Friday 29th November. You'll meet Sensei Craig Catania, who is one of Australia's best Shukokai teachers, and will be our tour guide for the trip.
The tour will be a 14 day trip (including travel days) where we'll get to see some of the most beautiful parts of Japan, along with experiencing some AMAZING karate training in our direct lineage, Shukokai karate.
It is open to all teen & adult students from any Kando dojo (it doesn't matter what belt level you are). Students under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The rough itinerary is below. There might be some small changes, but you'll get an idea of what it will look like.
Depart Melb Wed 12/11 - Kobe (final itinerary may be a day either side of this).
👊 Thurs 13/11 - day trip around Kobe, training at night @ Shukokai Takatori dojo.
👊 Fri 14/11 - Tani sensei's grave visit and small memorial, training @ Shin Nagata dojo
👊 Sat 15/11 - rest morning for group, instructors to watch high performance training session for JKF National Junior Team members
👊 Sun 16/11 - Arima Onsen day trip
👊 Mon 17/11 - Activate Rail Pass, day trip to Himeji, training at Miyodani
👊 Tues 18/11 - transfer to Hiroshima - visit the Peace Park
👊 Wed 19/11 - Mitaki Dera gardens and temple - nighttime training at Yoshiura dojo
👊 Thurs 20/11 - Miyajima day trip and cool photos in gi (island via ferry)
👊 Fri 21/11 - transfer to Kyoto, 3 nights here.
Kyoto plans
- Budokan where we do our own training session (oldest dojo in Japan)
- Budokan, Heian Shrine, Tozando & Handicraft centre
- Kyou Mizu Dera, Golden Pavillion, Ninaji zen temple (bus tour)
- later start, 1000 Buddha's (archery temple), then Inari for sunset hike
Last day, free morning with afternoon airport transfer by train. Monday 24/11 return to Melbourne, overnight flight, land on 25/11.
