What is Kambo?
Kambo cleanse is a healing ritual that originated in South America. Kambo is a poisonous substance secreted by the giant monkey frog. This creature is also known as the giant leaf frog. Phyllomedusa bicolor is its scientific name. The Amazon rainforest is home to the giant monkey frog. They are found in Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Many cultures revere giant monkey frogs for their healing powers.
The Kambo ceremony is designed to offer a safe environment for an uncomfortable experience while taking the discomfort into account. People who take part in Kambo are aware of what is coming. Because there shouldn't be any distractions with Kambo, there are none during the experience. It's a well-known proverb that Kambo provides you with what you require but not what you desire. In this way, Kambo functions as both frog medicine and frog poison.
Preparation before Kambo Ceremony
Preparation is similar to that of any entheogenic ceremony: it should be consumed on an empty stomach, bladder, and bowels. It is best to avoid solid food, especially salt, for 8-10 hours before the procedure. Alcohol should also be avoided for at least 24 hours prior to application.
Before applying Kambo to burns, a small amount should be tested on the skin. Many practitioners observe negative reactions for up to a day. Due to the possibility of adverse effects or medical contraindications that could have severe or fatal consequences, it is strongly advised not to try this on your own, but to find an experienced Kambo-giver or guide. A sitter is required at the very least if self-administering Kambo. Also, keep in mind that Kambo has the potential to become habit-forming. A good upper limit is 12 applications per year.
How is Kambo Administered?
The modern neoshamanic Kambo ritual's ultimate goal is to achieve 'healing' and 'cleansing' of the body, emotions, and spirit. In general, a Kambo ritual begins with drinking approximately 1 liter of water or cassava soup, followed by the therapist or Kambo practitioner creating a number of small burns with a glowing timber, typically 3-5, traditionally at the ankle or upper arm.
After scraping away the blister skin, the secretion is applied to the wound, where it quickly enters the lymphatic system and then the bloodstream. These burns, also known as "gates," allow the pasty substance to enter the bloodstream quickly. These gates may leave scars, which will fade with time and care. After the ceremony, practitioners may apply oils and balms to reduce scarring.
Kambo is believed to treat the following conditions:
- Alzheimer's disease (AD)
- Parkinson's disease (PD)
- Cancer
- Infertility
- Chronic discomfort
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Migraines
- Infections
- Addiction
