Renowned percussionist, composer, and visionary bandleader Kahil El’Zabar brings his celebrated Ethnic Heritage Ensemble to Jack London Revue as part of his 53rd Annual Black History Month, Let The Spirit Out! tour. This special performance carries forward El’Zabar’s long-standing tradition of honoring Black musical lineage through deep groove, spirited improvisation, and elevated jazz expression. Born in Chicago and shaped by the creative energy of the AACM, El’Zabar has spent decades expanding the vocabulary of modern jazz, collaborating with masters like Dizzy Gillespie, David Murray, Nina Simone, and Pharoah Sanders. The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, active since 1973, continues to evolve its powerful sound with each new performance, blending ancestral rhythms, soulful horns, and dynamic interplay into an unmistakable musical conversation.
This concert is presented by Soul’d Out Productions, longtime curators of boundary-expanding music and culture throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the music begins at 7:30pm. This show is 21+.
