1-Year Anniversary & New Year’s Celebration
Daito Ryu of Cedar Rapids
We will gather for our annual Kagami Biraki ceremony as we celebrate renewal, reflection, and the beginning of the new training year. This year also marks the one-year anniversary of Daito Ryu of Cedar Rapids. Attendance is reserved for our dojo members, their families, and close supporters.

This celebration is invite only. Whether you train, support the dojo, or are a friend or family member of someone who does, you are welcome. It is a time to come together, share good food, honor tradition, and welcome the new year with gratitude and spirit.

The evening will include:
• Introduction to Daito Ryu of Cedar Rapids
A warm welcome from Dojo-chō Donald Quintana and a brief overview of Daito-ryu Aiki-Jujutsu, its roots, and the spirit behind our training.
•Short Martial Arts Demonstrations (演武)
Performed by the students of Daito Ryu of Cedar Rapids.
•Kagami Biraki Sake Ceremony (鏡開き)
A traditional ritual symbolizing renewal and the opening of the new year with harmony.
•Sukiyaki Dinner
Our featured meal for the evening. Food and beverages (non-alcoholic options included) will be provided.
•Community Time
Meet the instructor, connect with students, and enjoy the growing community that has taken shape throughout this first year.
