Good evening! The K-State Indigenous Faculty and Staff Alliance would like to invite you to save Monday, October 9th (K-State Ballroom; Student Union; Manhattan, KS) on your calendars for K-State's 2023 Indigenous Peoples Day! As usual, a Kansas Association for Native American Education (KANAE) Fall Meeting will follow the events.
Our Theme is Writing, Singing, and Shaping the Future: Indigenous Film, Art, and Performance.
Speakers include Kickapoo writer, singer, children's book illustrator and comic book creator Arigon Starr and Comanche playwright and film scholar Dustin Tahmahkera. Lunch will be catered by Indigenous chef Jason Champagne and will feature a staged reading of Tahmahkera's comic short play, 9-1-1 Comancheria.
Artist and K-State Alum Justin Catron will have an installation in the Union art space.
