Arizona K-12 educators, you’re invited to the Heard Museum on December 6 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. for Educator Night!
Join us as we celebrate the relaunch of guided school tours and share resources for bringing information about Indigenous peoples of Arizona into your learning spaces.
The museum will be open just for you, including the opportunity to hear virtual remarks exclusively for Arizona Educators from Sean Mooney, the guest curator of "Substance of Stars," the Heard Museum’s newest exhibition!
For the first hour of the event, guests will enjoy the music of flutist Jonah Littlesunday (Diné) and learn about the ways that Jonah engages young audiences.
To cap off the event, educators will tune in to a live virtual presentation by poet/editor/playwright and current Indigenous Nations Poets fellow, Kinsale Drake (Diné). Kinsale will share some of her poetry and thoughts about the question, “What should educators keep in mind as they work with Native students and share Native American art and culture with all students in their classrooms?”
In addition to exploring Substance of Stars and learning from our special guests, educators will also enjoy:
-Appetizers and a free drink ticket
-Special swag
-Take-home resources
-Information about the Heard Museum’s resources for teachers
This event is FREE but requires advance registration. Please use this link to secure your spot: https://bit.ly/3UQdxuq
