The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center Presents: Juntos de Nuevo: Grand Reopening of the ESB MACC We are honored to celebrate the long-awaited reopening of the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center - a space deeply rooted in community, culture, and the vibrant traditions that shape Austin.
After nearly three years of thoughtful renovation and expansion, the ESB-MACC welcomes the community back with Juntos de Nuevo—a day of reconnection, celebration, and cultural expression. This family-friendly event is open to all, with no tickets or RSVPs required.
Highlights include:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Welcome remarks & ribbon cutting
12:00 PM – 9:00 PM:
Live music and performances on the outdoor stage under the Zócalo
Tours of the new and renovated spaces
Hands-on arts, dance, music, theater, and culinary workshops for all ages
Free children’s art activities in the new youth classrooms
Exhibitions in the Community Gallery and the Sam Z. Coronado Gallery
Community Resource Fair featuring local nonprofits
Artisan market highlighting local Latino/a/e entrepreneurs
Food trucks throughout the day
This reopening is more than a milestone—it is a celebration of identity, creativity, and the enduring cultural legacy of Austin’s communities.

New Building Features:
This Phase 2 project includes the addition of new music rehearsal spaces, renovations to performance spaces, classrooms, galleries, office/support space, dedicated storage space, teaching kitchen, new landscaping and gathering spaces. Visitors to the newly renovated building can experience enhanced safety features, rooms with natural light, and a closed/controllable perimeter of the Zocalo Plaza with a shaded structure.
