About this Event
In this hands-on class, you’ll create your own small junk journal from start to finish, then embellish it using a mix of provided materials and meaningful “junk” from your own life
What is a junk journal?
A junk journal is often a handmade book created from a mix of new and found materials—think recycled papers, old book pages, and everyday ephemera like tickets, maps, and receipts. It blends elements of scrapbooking, collage, and mixed media art, with no rules and no pressure for perfection.
During class, you’ll:
- Browse a variety of finished junk journals for inspiration
- Select your primary pages from an assortment of provided papers and books
- Learn a simple bookbinding technique to assemble your journal
- Embellish your pages using provided junk and mixed media supplies
- Learn fun techniques and best practices
You’re encouraged to bring pieces of junk from your own life—receipts, junk mail, stickers, cards, packaging, or anything else that catches your eye and holds a small story.
