--- Level descriptions ---
Beginner/intermediate
The level for those of you who have danced a little solo jazz and for you who are new to solo jazz. Having some swing dancing experience is an advantage, but new swing dancers are also welcome. This level is for you if you have taken jazz 1 or 2 or Lindy Hop 1 or 2 at Bårdar.
Advanced
The level for those of you who know the classic jazz steps and want to expand your vocabulary and work on your dancing. This level is for you if you have taken jazz 3 or 4 or Lindy Hop 3 or 4 at Bårdar.

*Tamara Lobato Nieto*
Tamara has been connected to dance since she was a child. In Hip Hop especially, competing, training and teaching. It wasn't until 2017 while she was working for Amnesty International in Chile that she was introduced to Swing for the first time by “Swingtiago" (Santiago de Chile). In a short amount of time, Tamara started developing her own unique style and began sharing her incredible joy in every step and every dance.After leaving Chile, she moved to Granada (Spain), where she taught Solo Jazz classes at the “Hophop Swing”. Tamara hasn't stopped sharing her dance in new places, first, in Poland where she was studying, and now she is currently in her hometown Madrid, where she balances her two worlds, professional psychology and her creative and artistic swing dancing. Wherever you meet Tamara, she will always be preceded by her contagious laughter, her overflowing energy, her artistic movement and give it all attitude in every social and every class. For Tamara, the most important thing is finding the groove, transmitting the music, expressing yourself and conversations about improving social and cultural values in swing dance.
*Helena Kanini Kiiru*
Helena is a young dancer and teacher from Zagreb, Croatia, currently based in Amsterdam. Her enthusiasm for music and dancing has been evident since her childhood when she started playing piano at the age of 7. Having Kenyan roots in her family, Helena has always been exposed to African music, which stimulated her sensibility for the rhythm. Very soon she started developing interest towards dances like Hip Hop and Dancehall. After 8 years of exploring various Street dance styles, she saw African American Jazz dancing and immediately felt that it speaks to her on a very deep level. Helena feels that Jazz created an opportunity for her to meet and express all the deep parts of herself that made her expand and grow. She believes that Jazz gives us a space where we can unapologetically be ourselves while transcending the body, spirit and music. Helena finds it very important to acknowledge the historical context behind this dance and she’s constantly busy finding new approaches to bring values of African American culture to her classes.She endlessly continues to fuel her inspiration with various other dance styles. Helena is currently on a mission to spread her aspiration and passion for African American Jazz dancing in hopes of contributing to its existence and development. Her huge wish is to connect Jazz and Street dance communities and bring this dance to street jams and clubs!

If you haven’t paid yet, you can cancel your ticket by sending us an email. Please do, so we can give your spot to somebody else.
You paid for your ticket but you can’t make it after all? If you sell your ticket privately, please let us know the name of the person taking over your ticket. In general we do not refund tickets, but in case of any extraordinary circumstances please contact us at [email protected]

Bårdar Swing Club (BSC) is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable dancing experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). Therefore all members, instructors, pupils, volunteers and social dancers in our scene are required to comply with the BSC code of conduct.
