Juneteenth Movie Night: A Night of Reflection, Culture & Connection
About this Event
Join Afrodesiac Collective for a meaningful Juneteenth Movie Night as we gather in community to learn, reflect, and honor the history of freedom, resilience, and liberation.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This evening is designed to create space for education, conversation, and connection through film — not only for Black Americans, but for anyone who believes in the importance of understanding history, honoring resilience, and building a more compassionate future.
Together, we’ll watch a thoughtfully selected film that explores the history and spirit of Juneteenth, followed by an optional group reflection and discussion.
No prior knowledge is needed. This is a welcoming space for anyone who wants to learn, listen, and engage with the deeper meaning of Juneteenth in a respectful and heartfelt way.
Your ticket includes:
- A community movie screening
- Light snacks and refreshments
- Optional guided reflection and discussion
- A welcoming space for cultural curiosity, learning, and connection
Come solo, bring a friend, or join us for a reflective evening rooted in history, humanity, and hope.
Hosted by Afrodesiac Collective — a space for cultural curiosity, creativity, and connection.
