Juneteenth in the Bronx: A Community Celebration with Andre Easton
About this Event
Juneteenth belongs to the people. Come celebrate with us in the heart of the Bronx.
Join Andre Easton — high school teacher, father, socialist, and candidate for Congress in NY-15 — for a free community gathering at Joyce Kilmer Park. This is a day to honor Black liberation, build community, and take stock of the fight still ahead.
Andre is challenging AIPAC-funded incumbent Ritchie Torres to build something bigger: a movement to fight for lower rent, higher wages, and a future that belongs to the workers that make society run. Not the billionaires. Not the real estate developers.
Featured speakers: Omowale Clay of the December 12 movement, a Pan-African human rights organization based in New York City; Karina Garcia, socialist and former PSL vice presidential candidate; and Manolo De Los Santos, educator and organizer.
Live culture: BombaYo, an Afro-Puerto Rican arts project based right here in the Bronx, plus DJ collective Uptown Vinyl Supreme spinning throughout the day.
Food: Labor of Love Kitchen brings the rich flavors of Black Heritage Cooking to the park.
Free for the whole community. Families welcome. Childcare programming provided.
