About this Event

The Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity (CWCSEO) proudly invites the public to join us for a dynamic and meaningful Juneteenth Celebration at the Connecticut State Capitol on June 18, 2026. This celebration will honor the historical significance of Juneteenth while uplifting the enduring contributions, resilience, creativity, and future possibilities of Black communities throughout Connecticut and beyond.

The day’s programming will begin with a morning press conference inside the Capitol featuring remarks from state leaders, community advocates, artists, and cultural voices reflecting on the importance of Juneteenth, equity, civic engagement, and community empowerment. The press conference will serve as both a commemoration of freedom and a call toward continued investment in opportunity, inclusion, and collective progress.

Following the press conference, attendees are invited to participate in the exposition titled:

Black Futures Beyond America 250: Culture, Commerce, & Community

The exposition will transform several areas throughout the Capitol into an interactive community-centered experience highlighting four major themes central to Black history, innovation, and advancement:

  • Cultural Arts
  • Culinary Arts
  • Black Farming & Agriculture
  • Economic Opportunity & Wealth Building

Throughout the exposition, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with community organizations, entrepreneurs, artists, educators, advocates, public agencies, and local leaders working to strengthen and empower Connecticut communities. The event will feature educational resources, cultural exhibits, performances, networking opportunities, economic empowerment information, and community engagement activities designed to celebrate both legacy and future possibilities.

This celebration is designed to create space for reflection, education, connection, and joy while emphasizing the importance of preserving history, supporting community advancement, and building pathways toward long-term equity and opportunity for future generations.

Please Note: Schedule and programming are subject to change.
