Join us for our next Monthly Supper Club on Tuesday 25th June, 5pm - 8pm, a space to gather regularly, share food, ideas, and organise together, co-hosted and co-curated by CIVIC SQUARE and neighbours from B16 and beyond.

Monthly Supper Clubs take place at Midland Sailing Club and are a space for us to connect with and support each other locally, while also looking beyond our city with visits from inspiring speakers, practitioners and activists from around the country. This space exists to highlight and celebrate organising that allows people to design, own and govern their response to the effects of climate change, including the retrofit of our homes, streets and neighbourhoods.
Whether you've come along regularly or it's your first time, you are warmly welcome to drop in and enjoy a plate of hot, tasty food with us. Building on the time spent regularly together here last year, Monthly Supper Clubs will continue on the last Tuesday of every month throughout the year, so be sure to call by when you can.
Our Monthly Supper Clubs are family-friendly and you’re more than welcome to bring children along to draw, play and dream with us too. You can also drop in at any time, leave when you need to, or come for the whole time!

Happening this Month

Last month’s Supper Club was buzzing with excitement as we shared the next stages of the Neighbourhood Public Square over some tasty pizza.

This month marks one year since of Neighbourhood Trade School here in Ladywood. We will be celebrating this first birthday with cake and reflecting on the knowledge, skills and wisdom we have shared with each other over the past twelve months. We would love it if you would be prepared to share a favourite Trade School experience, or what being a class host or learner has meant for you, as part of this celebration.

Continuing from this month’s Trade School classes, Ray will be hosting part 3 of his Board Game Making class series with the chance to test play the co-created board game which features iconic Birmingham locations reimagined as part of a Pokemon and Dungeons and Dragons universe.

Following on from last months Public Square takeover, CIVIC SQUARE team will be popping up again with illustrations, designs and ideas, and holding space for conversations about the next stage of creating the Neighbourhood Public Square.

This month we are really lucky to have a host of neighbours sharing what they are up to locally and inviting you to get involved:

Hannah, Paul and David will be joining us to share how they are using the Link Road Dream Fund to unlock their organising together on Link Road. Hannah is setting up a potting shed in her back garden that will be used to help propagate plants for the street, and to teach neighbours the skills to get started with horticulture. Paul and David have recently installed a planter on their front garden, which they are turning into a sensory garden, complete with a Sharing Cupboard full of books to be borrowed, swapped and donated. They are also in the process of creating a stage in their back garden to be used for free community events.

Clare from the Birmingham Voluntary Services Council and Toqueer from The Urban Green Room will be hosting a table ahead of them popping up at the Neighbourhood Futures Festival at the Birmingham Nature and Wellbeing Centre next weekend (27th-30th June). They will also be sharing how to get involved in their photography project exploring green and non-green spaces in the neighbourhood.

Tom Jones, one of the organisers of Round the Ressa, will be joining us to share an invite to this family friendly, fun day around the Edgbaston Reservoir on the 6th July 2-4pm.
