Saturday June 19: The Art of Urban Sketching
Learn the art of Urban Sketching in this relaxed workshop focused on recording the world around you. Using a watercolor journal, pens, and simple watercolor washes, students will learn tips and techniques for recording their adventures, whether it is in a restaurant, museum, beachfront, or big city. The focus of this workshop is capturing the moment on location, not creating a finished painting. Students will meet in the Museum’s studios before venturing outside to practice what they have learned. All levels. Instructor: Rosemary Connelly.
Friday June 25: Making Ceramic Birds (Virtual)
In this laid-back workshop perfect for a date night, the instructor will demonstrate how to easily sculpt a bird form, then show how to add adornments, including beaks, wings, and all the trimmings. This will be entertaining for everyone! Great fun for a family, group of friends or individuals to do at home and have a little flock of birdies to display. Birds will be fired in the Museum’s kiln and returned to their makers. Glazing is not necessary but touches of color could be added later with acrylics, if desired. All levels. Instructor: Rhoda Kahler.
After registration is complete you will receive an email with a link and details on how to join the Zoom meeting and directions for curbside clay pickup. If you do not receive a link, please check your spam folder or reach out to us at [email protected].
Saturday June 26 (10am - 1pm): Water Color Magic
Learn all the quick tricks for creating texture with watercolors! The instructor will demo various techniques before students get a chance to try on their own. All levels. Instructor: Cynthia Swanson.
Saturday June 26 (1pm - 3:30 pm): Photographing Your Artwork
This workshop gives an introduction to photographing your own artwork for social media, exhibition submissions, and more. Learn tips and tricks for photographing a variety of mediums such as small pieces of jewelry, shiny ceramic vases, or large paintings. This workshop will also include an introduction to camera settings and editing suggestions. Each student should bring a work of art to practice photographing in class. All levels. Instructor: Danny Schweers.
