Join us on Tuesday, June 4th at 6pm for a trip down memory lane to discuss "Savin Rock Memories" by Gil Johnson - and perhaps share some Savin Rock memories of your own! Gone is the glitter, the thrills, the great fun days of Savin Rock; gone forever into legend beneath the bulldozers, burying its last laugh, its last scream, its last remnant. Only the surf laps the sand now along the Savin Rock shores - but if you listen, really listen, beyond the cry of the seagulls, a dim drone of past generations of funsters by the millions will become amplified with the sounds of the clanking roller coaster chains, the cymbal and drum rhythm of the merry-go-round calliope, the hysterical laughter of the fun house lady, the crack of a fun and ring of a target, the spurt of air up a dress, the clang of the trolley bell, the barker's "up-up-over the bump"... and the air hangs heavy with the aroma of honey popcorn, toasted soft shell crabs and crispy hot dogs.
